HOW IT WORKS

Room at the Table serves a meal at 5:30 pm each evening, seven days a week, year-round.

We are currently located at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Florence.  Room at the Table is leasing this space from First Presbyterian with the goal of having our own space as soon as a location is secured. 

There are two ways you can participate in an evening with Room at the Table. You can provide the Food and Volunteers as part of a Food Team or you can volunteer as a Individual Volunteer to provide additional support to the Team.

Each night, Room at the Table has a Food Team that can be made up of anyone.  This can be your book club, your church serve team, your business employees, community groups or even just a group of friends.  As a Food Team, you will provide the food for 150 people.  This includes our average number of guests, as well as all volunteers.  Your food team will also need 12-15 volunteers to help prepare, serve and clean-up.  You can either cook on-site in our commercial kitchen or bring the food prepared in advance.  The Room at the Table Coordinator will work with you to sign-up for the date you'd like to participate and a Team Leader will be on-site to help guide you through the process and lead the evening.

In addition to the Food Team, there will be 4-6 additional volunteers to help with things like prepping the tables for the meal, greeting the guests at the door, mingling and interacting with the guests and helping with clean-up.  Individual volunteers are asked to attend a short training before signing up. Each volunteer chooses the dates they can help and sign-up in advance. 

 

Food Teams arrive at 4pm to begin preparing the meal and individual volunteers should arrive at 4:15pm. We open the doors at 5:15pm and the meal begins at 5:30pm.  Clean-up begins around 6:15 and we are normally done by 7pm.
